The e-Mission Suite consists of various standalone apps that are targeting different parts of a processing facility. These apps operate on a configurable digital ecosystem so that they can be combined to form a full facility digital twin. Various apps are available, including: Thermal, Methane, Tank and VRU. These apps can be run individually or as an entire ecosystem, depending on your production facility needs. These apps offer all the benefits of a process optimizer, but are able to operate on a simple processing unit that can be placed in a Process Logical Controller (PLC).

A majority of modern production facilities for unconventional oil are built as well-pad facilities that decline fast. Due to the limited life-cycle time of these facilities the CAPEX to build these has to be low. The control systems at these facilities are simple and Supervisory Control And Data Acquisition (SCADA) systems are installed. These however, only provide essential telemetry and there is no ability to change set points at the facility's controllers remotely.

Consequently, the facilities are operated at fixed set-points that are sub-optimal. The industry thus far has not been successful at finding a digital solution to optimize these operational set points at an economically feasible cost level.

Because the processing unit can be placed at the facility, there is no need to transmit all the telemetry from the facility to a centralized location. The solution is also easy to install, and is able to communicate with the facility's PLC through serial connections. This means that the e-Mission Suite is completely separated from the facility's internal network, hence it can be implemented with the same ease as typical measurement equipment. This solution ultimately reduces the facility's emissions, whilst simultaneously reducing OPEX and improving oil recovery.

Various apps within the e-Mission Suite have been successfully implemented at several production facilities in the Bakken and Permian basins. During these pilots, the process model running on a simple processing unit has been validated with data from the field.

By providing automated control of existing heaters and coolers, we optimize how the facility is operated without any physical changes to the processing equipment. This simple and impactful digital solution reduces routine flaring and facility emissions by up to 60%.

e-Mission Thermal utilizes process automation and wireless instrumentation to monitor and control RVP (Reid Vapor Pressure). By evaluating how and where we want to apply or remove heat, we can maximize sellable hydrocarbon products otherwise combusted and minimize greenhouse gas (GHG ) emissions based on the changing conditions of the well and weather.

Thermal can be used in greenfield and brownfield applications regardless of facility design. This system uses process automation to decrease routine flaring and is also proven to maximize hydrocarbon production. It’s easily deployed and scalable across all applicable types of facilities.

Operators set the RVP target, and e-Mission Thermal does the rest of the work, adjusting temperatures in real time regardless of the well's condition or weather changes. UCOS powers Thermal, our open architecture operating system that does not require any intervention into the operator’s IT infrastructure. The data from across the facility is integrated into a single platform providing the operator Edge control and performance insights.

When this application is paired with additional applications from the e-Mission Suite, a complete site-specific digital twin is created. This enables other analytics and machine learning to help move from a reactive to a preventative operation. -ѾDz™ Methane is a digital solution that will reduce methane emissions by capturing actual events and identifying assets at risk that may cause unintended incidents. The solution provides a centralized environment to understand all emission events at your facilities to decrease the abatement time for Leak Detection and Repair (LDAR) teams and reporting time to your organization.

e-Mission Methane is designed to aggregate methane event data from the customer’s existing sensors or a solution provided by ƹƵapp to identify assets most prone to intermittent or continuous methane events.

These findings will be used to facilitate customer LDAR teams to schedule abatement responses based on the frequency or severity of the event of the identified source. ƹƵapp’s Command Center, will identify and communicate events based off of predefined customer requirements as well as EPA standards.

e-Mission Methane will quantify the impact of events and capture them in a real-time dashboard. The solution also provides data to customers for regulatory reporting and tracks emission performance of facilities and assets.

Methane can be used in greenfield and brownfield applications regardless of facility design. It’s easily deployed, calibrates automatically, and does not require shutting down production or physical intervention.

This application will interface with others from the e-Mission Suite to create a site-specific digital twin powered by ƹƵapp’s proprietary platform UCOS, enabling other analytics to help move from a reactive operation to a preventative process, eliminating troublesome emission events and unplanned shutdowns, providing operators greater transparency, and control of their assets.

-ѾDz™ Tank allows operators to minimize the risks associated with tank inventory management to deliver actionable product transfer insights. By leveraging facility process data, Tank utilizes cloud-based analytics and edge-based logic to deliver actionable interfaces for production facilities. This digital solution prevents losses in your inventory while reducing your facility emissions.

e-Mission Tank is comprises three parts: the edge-based UCOS control logic, the InsiteX Digital Twin and a remote operations technical support team. The digital twin is at the heart of the service, enabling optimization of tank management processes through machine learning based bulk custody transfer anomaly detection and facility health insights. The digital twin is the key enabler, delivering machine learning functionality across all sites, leveraging both the digital twin model and pool of historical data and lessons learned. The platform delivers actionable interfaces to operators for them to proactively spend time where it is most valuable. Operators move from constantly compiling and evaluating data to critical decision making with the necessary information at their fingertips.

e-Mission Tank uses both edge and cloud computing, leveraging the strengths of each. The edge-based UCOS control system provides flexible integration with existing tank gauge instrumentation and real time telemetry. The local system monitors, stores and transmits data to the digital twin. The store-and-forward functionality of this topology ensures continuity of business-critical data regardless of signal quality.

This application can be used at any facility with liquid storage tanks. The general nature of production facilities means changes in facility processes, well health, inventory levels and custody transfer are all monitorable via their interactions and influence on tank behavior. Tank level sensors are used to monitor and validate the production rate, volume, and custody transfer in all fixed roof tanks. A custody transfer dashboard combines transactional records with anomaly detection to highlight potential problem loads, significantly reducing time spent reconciling invoices.

Automated tank gauging can now add operational efficiencies and process health monitoring. e-Mission Tank intelligence reduces time to data and decision, delivering efficient operations and enhanced custody transfer.

-ѾDz™ VRU is an easy to implement digital solution for Vapor Recovery Unit (VRU) management. The system collects data directly from an existing VRU control system and is able to provide actionable insights aimed at preventing unplanned shut downs.

e-Mission VRU is designed to be implemented without the need to connect to the facility's IT infrastructure. The solution leverages our open architecture UCOS software, that is able to operate on a simple stand-alone processor. The processor pulls data from the facility and VRU control systems, supplemented by wireless sensors that can be easily installed, such as clamp on vibration sensors. The data is then fed to our secure InsiteX™ platform that has advanced analytic capabilities.

The system can automatically identify changes or anomalies in operational data, and is therefore able to predict potential shut downs that may occur if no action is taken. Clear and actionable alerts are determined together with the operator prior to deployment. These are now automatically provided together with relevant information to help operators plan preventative action with minimal cost and effort.

Prevention of flaring by minimizing VRU shut downs is not the only benefit of implementing e-Mission VRU. The system also records accurate data regarding VRU uptime, which can be leveraged to provide an accurate and verifiable report demonstrating the reduction of flaring.

e-Mission VRU gives operators real-time monitoring and actionable insights to maximize VRU uptime, minimize OpEx and reduce flaring in a verifiable manner.
